Award Winning Animated Short Zoom Suit Featured with The Polar Express
Local children can receive a holiday treat early this year. The city of Coconut Creek is sponsoring “Movies in the Park” Saturday December 10th starting at 7:00 PM. The night of outdoor film fun starts off with an award winning animated superhero short, Zoom Suit, by local director John Taddeo. Hopefully, Zoom Suit can “warm up” fans for the evening’s feature presentation, The Polar Express, starring Tom Hanks. The event is being held at the Coconut Creek Community Center at 1100 Lyons Road. Admission is free and all ages are welcome.
Taddeo, formerly of Marvel Entertainment, premiered Zoom Suit in April 2005 at the Palm Beach International Film Festival. Since then, the short has been accepted to over 50 film festivals and screened to over 250,000 theater attendees. It was an official selection of the San Diego Comic Con Film Festival and the International Family Film Festival. In November it was broadcast into 10 Million homes on Adelphia Cable’s High Definition Channel.
In Zoom Suit, a twelve year old boy mistakenly winds up with the government’s top secret battle suit which was recovered from the Roswell alien crash. Clothes make the man, or in this case the boy in this superhero Cinderella story.
The short film was recently optioned for a live action Hollywood feature by Executive Producer David Foster (The Fog, The Core, Collateral Damage, Mask of Zorro).
In Polar Express, Santa Claus does not exist. Or does he? For one doubting boy (voice of Daryl Sabara and Tom Hanks), an Unlimited event occurs. Late on Christmas Eve night, he lies in bed hoping to hear the sound of reindeer bells from Santa’s sleigh. When to his surprise, a steam engine’s roar and whistle can be heard outside his window. The conductor (voice of Tom Hanks) invites him on board to take an extraordinary journey to the North Pole with many other pajama-clad children. There, he receives an extraordinary gift only those who still believe in Santa can experience.
The event will feature refreshments for sale courtesy of Publix Supermarket. Popcorn sales benefit the Teen Club. Your friends at the Coconut Creek Community Center remind you to bring your lawn chairs and blankets.
